We are excited to introduce our new product:
DT SERIES AUTOMATIC START AND CHANGE-OVER SWITCHES
The DT Series automatic change-over switches is designed as portable units, to be used with portable, manual and electric-start power generators. They are ideal for DIY installation.
The DT Series automatic change-over switches are not installed into the electric mains distribution unit. Therefore they do not need any internal connections and/or wiring. All the standard cabling and connectors required are supplied with the unit and any extensions to these, within safe operating limits, can be ordered separately.
The only requirement is that a separate electric outlet socket is installed to the electric mains distribution box by a qualified electrician. This is only needed for change-over units with a rating higher than 9.5 kVA.
THIS SYSTEM ELIMINATES —
- ILLEGAL and DANGEROUS connections to mains distribution panels
- ILLEGAL and DANGEROUS use of “HOT LEADS” and “HOT PLUGS”
- The “HASSLE” of manually switching off the generator after the main ELECTRICITY is restored
- The “HASSLE” of changing leads or cables between the generator and electrical wall sockets
- The chances of ACCIDENTAL ELECTROCUTION during the process of changing and swapping cables and plugs
- The need to wait for appliances to start up again after the main electricity is restored
- And in the case of remote and automatic start units, the need to leave your house or office to start the generator
Also available are our DX Series of switches with basic functions similar to the DT series of automatic start and change-over switches, but they are not portable and are installed as permanent fixtures of the mains distribution unit. Each unit is custom built and installed to customer requirements and specifications.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The Full range of the DX Series of Automatic Start and Change-over Switches:
The DT-02 and the DT-03 models are intended for use with manual-start generators from 2.4 kVA (10 Amp) to 11.5 kVA (48 Amp), the maximum dependent on the model.
The DT-04 and the DT-05 models are intended for use with electric-start generators from 2.4 kVA (10 Amp) to 19 kVA (79 Amp), the maximum dependent on the model.
The only action required is to either manually or remotely start the generator (except in the case of automatic start-up units) when the main utility power fails.
Automatic change-over from generator power back to the main electricity power will take place when the main power is restored AND the generator will be automatically switched off.
The change-over from mains to generator power will take place once the generator’s in full speed and power output has been reached. This should prevent the generator from overloading and switching off.
Generator to mains utility power change-over will take place after the main electricity line has been restored with ample time allowed to stabilize to the correct voltage. This will minimize the risk of damage to appliances as a result of extreme power fluctuations and spikes that are often experienced after mains utility lines are restored.
